Chandigarh weather and seasons

Chandigarh sits at the foot of the Shivalik hills and has four clear seasons. Check today’s weather and air quality on our homepage.

Spring: February to March

Pleasant days, cool nights and flowers everywhere. The Rose Festival is held in the Rose Garden in this season.

Summer: April to June

It gets very hot, especially in May and June, when afternoon temperatures often go above 40°C. Dust storms and short thunderstorms are common. Walk and cycle early, carry water and stay out of the afternoon sun.

Monsoon: July to September

Heavy showers and high humidity. Low-lying roads can flood briefly after a downpour. Sukhna Lake fills up and the hills turn green.

Autumn: October to November

Clear, comfortable days. Air quality can get worse in late October and November, when smoke from crop-residue burning in the region drifts in. Check the AQI before a long run.

Winter: December to January

Cold nights and dense fog, especially in the mornings. Flights and trains are often delayed by fog. Days are often sunny and pleasant once the fog lifts.
